Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku has taken charge of the forthcoming ODM party elections in Kajiado.
Governor Lenku on Thursday morning said that after a thorough consultation with party leader Raila Odinga, he announced that party members in the county will not be subjected to acrimonious elections but will instead choose party officials through consensus.
“After consultation with members and ODM elected leaders in the county, we have agreed that the sub counties will meet and choose their leaders before we ratify their lists next week on Monday,” said Lenku
Speaking after the inauguration of the ODM County Coordination Committee after a meeting at a hotel in Kajiado East, Lenku said the party was intact in the region.
“We are united. We are in close contact with the Party headquarters. Consensus will ensure we remain together. We have the party leadership in our plans,” said Lenku.
The governor’s meeting which comes hot on the heels of his attendance at the National Governing Council at the Bomas of Kenya on Thursday last week, was attended by ODM elected leaders.
Among those who attended were; Kajiado East MP Kakuta Maimai, Kajiado South MP Samuel Parashina, ODM party County coordinator Tarayia Ole Kores and MCAs led by Minority Leader, Isaac Kiresian (Magadi), Paul Matuyia (Kitengela), Jacinta Lepaiton (Nominated, among others.
